Seat Question
Seat Question
Does anyone know of a company offering an early style repo seat for the CL77? I have tried ebay and all of the vendors I know of with no luck. The good condition original seats that can be recovered are going sky high ebay when they do come up.
No one that I know of is offering reproduction CL seats. Most repo seats I have seen for other models (CB/CA) are not very good quality in my opinion. Your best bet would be to check out swap meets craigs list etc. For example I found an OK CL seat at a swap for $20.00 with trim. They are out there....... welcome to CL ownership!

CL77 seat
There is some outfit in Tampa, Fl I believe that does the seat thing. Not cheap, but depends on your requirements. Can't remember the name, perhaps this rings a bell with someone?
Got one
Finally got a decent seat off of ebay. $198.00 but has a great pan, excellent chrome trim, and just a little tear in the rear. I don't understand, I can find parts all day long for a 1955 Matchless but locating CL77 parts is turning what little hair I have left grayer by the minute.
Glad you found one! 198.00 sounds about right for a decent seat off ebay. Not a bad seat if it's the same one I saw.
Do yourself a favor and read the many threads in this forum about cool retro bikes before you think about getting it repaired or recovered.

Re: Got one
Don't tear that $198 seat down yet. The rubber inside is worth keeping intact for now, especially the "duck tail", which you will want to re-use if you have the seat recovered. I made the mistake of not telling my upholsterer to reuse it. Result: A nice looking seat that is not correct.britman wrote:Finally got a decent seat off of ebay. $198.00 but has a great pan, excellent chrome trim, and just a little tear in the rear.
