CL77 Speedo Mount

I will need the rubber speedo mount for my bike. I am just getting started on it and have lots of time, but in all my e-bay shopping in the last year or so I have only seen one that even looked usable. Most are either missing or unusable.

Has anyone remanufactured this part? I haven't seen any on the vendor websites I have visited.

I have the metal rings that the rubber sits in. Will I have to cast the new rubber for it myself?

I have only seen a couple on eBay and they went for big bucks. If you can make your own it would probably do your wallet a favor, should be pretty easy if you have foam stock.

I was actually thinking of making a mold using the remnants of the old mount for dimensions and then using Flexane rubber to make a new one.
Have you made one out of foam? If so, what kind of foam did you use and how did you shape it?

I have never tried to make one but I think you could use a piece of rubber mat about 1/2 thick, a really good exacto knife to trim and then seal it all with silicone. Let us know what you use and the results.

I have a few nos ones & when I do sell they go for $75 -$100
If you have the metal piece in good condition make a trip to a hardware store & get a roll of stiff foam weather stripping about 1/2" by 1/2" square with the adhesive on it. Wrap it around the speedo & carve off excess with a single edge razor blade and sandpaper. Done right impossible to tell differance from oem honda once installed if you hide the seam to the backside.

Thanks for the help. I am going to experiment with your ideas and see what I come up with. If anyone else has experience or ideas I would appreciate about them as well.
