Brake light won't go on with hand brake

Hi. I have a 67 dream 305. When the foot pedal is depressed the brake light goes on but NOT when the hand brake is pressed. I'm totally new to this. Where should I look to resolve the problem and what am I looking for? Thanks

Dreams are not equipped with a brake light on the front lever. Rear brake only.
