Headlight switch

Hi all...
I was just wondering if any of the cb77's didn't have the headlight switch on the headlight? I have a 1964 cb77 (basketcase), with no switch on the headlight bucket? But the dimmer switch appears to be a 3 position switch? Is this normal, or yet another (user modification)?

The 3 positions of the handlebar switch are -

up - high beam

center - used to fast charge battery, no headlights but the lighting coil from the alternator is in the charging sytem

down - low beam

This is typical for all the 1960s Hondas.
It is usually covered in the owners manual.

Hi all: I'm still a bit confused, The bike is a 1964 cb77 with no switch on the headlight bucket, just the 3 position switch on the left handlebar. All the pics. I see of the CB77, They have an on/off switch on the headlight bucket. Should my bike have a switch on the headlight or not?

As I know the CB77 all had a switch on the left of center. Some were 2 position and later ones were 3 position. This switch actually supplied 12 volts to the light system. ................lm

Carl, Not knowing the history of the bike,I wonder if the bucket had been changed say from crash damage and the one you have now is not cb77. I bought a bucket off e-bay awhile ago. It was advertised as cb77 and it looked like it, but was somthing else. The speedo didnt fit and the opening in the bottom was large compared to my original. I am just saying could be. I am sure all cb's Iv'e seen have a switch in 'em like my good friend Loud Mouse says.(he is my hero!) Hey, just get out the drill !! Problem solved ! Steve Greer

Hey all... It is a different bucket, because in the box of parts is a bucket w/ the switch in it. That was the reason I was asking the question because I wasn't sure which one was correct. Also the bucket with the switch in it has the spedo/tach with the hands going in the opposite direction, while the bucket on the bike has the spedo/tach that sweep in the same direction. so the other one is the correct one.
