tail light
tail light
my tail light works. really bright! the stop light only works with the lights off. somebody wrote in a previous posting ( for somebody) that wires are crossed? I reversed the wires near the battery and fender .but no change? should i be looking at connections in headlight bucket?
Hey Arch - Use the color wiring diagram from e3steve at the link below. It corrects the error in the Honda version at the ignition switch. Check your ignition switch connections carefully, and also in the headlight bucket.

Re: tail light
And I'll bet it's dimmer than the taillight?arch379r wrote:my tail light works. really bright! the stop light only works with the lights off. somebody wrote in a previous posting ( for somebody) that wires are crossed? Make sure you've not jammed the lamp (bulb) in the wong way wound; check the wiring from the ig-sw -- TL is white and is 'made' with HL (green) in the IGNITION position and with BA (red) in the PARK postion (c/w). Brake light is the blue wire.
Good shot from Gunner, but if the ground was high-resistance then there would be no taillight at all when selected: path= 12V>via ig-sw>lightswitch HL>ig-sw HL>ig-sw TL>taillight white>via both lamp filaments>taillight blue>brake light switch>-----¦ and dim when brake is applied: path= 12V>via ig-sw>brake sw black>brake sw blue>via both lamp filaments>taillight white>ig-sw TL>ig-sw HL>green (and also white)>ground via meter lamp(s) (and front parking light) assuming light switch OFF.

Before pulling wires off and crossing them, it's a good idea to see if the ground is good. Broken ground wires can sometimes make some unexpected strangeness. It's an easy test, just run a wire from a good grounded point to the tail light case and see what happens. When you trouble shoot, always check the obvious and the easy first :)via both lamp filaments

Re: tail light
do you mean that you switched the wires near the battery and taillight bracket simultaneously?

Good diagnostic starting point, all the same, Gunner.Gunner_CAF wrote:Before pulling wires off and crossing them, it's a good idea to see if the ground is good.
