Ignition Coil and Condenser Wiring help needed CB77

Post by mhayter » Thu May 29, 2008 10:37 pm

I need help properly putting the ignition coils and condensor back on my bike (66 CB77). They came in a box and I can not figure out how to connect the wires. Any pictures would also be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance.

Do you not have a repair/service manual?

Ignition Wire help

Post by mhayter » Sat May 31, 2008 1:12 am

Yes, I do. I have Glenn's Honda repair guide, Bill Silvers complete CD restoration guide and a number of electrical diagrams I have gotten on line. But I'm a little challenged. I have 4 coils and I don't think the wires on them are all original, and I just can't seem to make sense of it. Thanks for any help.

Mhayter,

The answer is in the Bill Silvers. Print out the wiring diagram and get familiar with it. It's real simple once you understand the diagram.

Basically the condenser goes to the coils and points just attach green to green black to black yellow to yellow and your done.

Good luck!

Here's a few pics of the coils and condenser that I just installed. On the coils, the black wire goes to positive terminal, yellow and green to negative. Green wire is right coil, yellow left. Ground wire goes from condensor mount to top front engine mount bolt. First one I did was from a box of parts as well, and I spent much time figuring it all out. Hope the pics help!
