wiring---am I missing something?

No, the neutral light bulb is grounded by the neutral switch, via the red/green wire. The neutral switch is located near the front sprocket, under the right engine crankcase cover.

I see what you mean and know that, sorry. Yes, I know that green/red wire that comes from the neutral switch that is under the sprocket cover. My question is this, I checked that wire by grounding my black wire and then poking that one and there is power to that wire. There is also power to the other wire going to that light. How can that be? It is in neutral yet the light won't come on. Like I said before, when I unplug that green/red wire and ground it to the engine for example, it lights up but once I shift it into first/second or whatever, it still stays on. I assume that green/red has to stay attached to the neutral switch but what activates that switch to tell you if it is in neutral?

The wire connection on part # 17 in this diagram : http://www.powersportspro.com/pages/Oem ... E14238S08A should be grounded when the transmission is in neutral.
