Number of spokes

Post by Rickytic » Mon Sep 17, 2012 6:50 pm

OK, last night I took my CL77 rear rim totally apart to get the hub polished, rim chromed, brakes re-lined, and spokes polished.

I searched the search area and did not see anything on the following question.

I counted the rear spokes and came up with 36, the rear rim has 36 holes that the spokes go in, and the hub has 36 holes, good all accounted for. It is a 19" rim. The rim appears to be an orginal rim, has the mark close to the valve stem hole etc. and looks exactly like the front rim. PROBLEM/orNOT, I count 40 spokes on the front rim. Either the front rim has 40 spokes or I am just getting to darned old to see and count right, or the rims have a different number of spokes. I give. Did the CL77 come with a different amount of spokes front and rear?

Thanks D for taking the time to share your knowledge. I bet I counted the spokes in both rims 20 or so times, even had my neighbor count them.

Hey Ed, you gotta parts book for sale? I've got 3 different books, but not an actual parts book. I went to Neilson.com and looked at the fiche and it didn't tell me what I needed etc. Searched quite a bit before I went to the forum, but couldn't find anything. I figured you would answer, cause I know how you don't have anything to do!!!! LOL.............Tic.
