Removing paint from badges

Post by gopher » Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:53 pm

I've come across a set of original badges that were spray painted black sometime in the late 60's. Anyone have a good idea on how to remove the paint without destroying what's underneath?

goo gone or goof off usually does a decent job without hurting the acrylic layer underneath. Of course, that's hoping they didn't use a high grade paint with clear coat. If they did, lacquer thinner or paint stripper might be your only hope.
