Thanks for the suggestions.
We must not have a moss problem around here....when I asked a couple local hw stores.....all I got was a blank stare and directions to the aluminum flashing!
I did find a slug for cathodic protection at one store, so that's what I've been using, just have to keep turning the parts.
Closest Home Depot is about 50 miles, but I won't set foot in one of those again due to a previous experience with them.
Got a couple more stores to try before just finding some online.

zinc plated spokes
Finally finished zinc plating my spokes, thanks to all for sharing their knowledge & experiences!
I'm ready to assemble the wheel, but have a lasting impression that the spokes may need to be "heated" to releive stress or "imbrittlement".
Can some one confirm with the correct "recipe"?
thanks, Allan

This is a very interesting thread. It seems that zinc strips for moss suppression is available only in the hot and humid southern US. I'm still hunting for something similar here at 43 degrees north.
My question goes back to the second page in which a folding footpeg is shown beautifully plated but disassembled. Given that it was riveted and the rivet destroyed, how should it be reassembled? Is there a particular rivet one can buy or is a nut and bolt the only solution?
Thanks.
Tim
