1965 C200 engine paint

Post by plangkau » Mon Mar 18, 2019 4:17 pm

Restoring my first Honda and I know that on the 1965 C200 the head and cylinder were black, but I want to make sure I know whether it’s supossed be gloss, semi or flat?

Thanks for the help, I want to make this right!

I'm not sure, but I think semi would be closest. I've never seen a factory new engine so it's possible the paint's luster may change with years of heating and cooling. Perhaps a high heat engine enamel or BBQ grill ceramic aerosol would be ideal. Good question.
