Post by 1941wld » Sat Oct 22, 2016 4:11 pm

Thanks,

I used GM bright red on my Dream. Looks really nice and is readily available at Advance Auto parts and Autozone.

RATTLE CAN RED FOR A CB77

Not trying to sell anything here just need the facts. I reached out to Randy Marble with Marble Motors. Here is his reply:

Yes, it is called "Scarlet Red".
You will also need to purchase some Clear as it is basecoat clearcoat paint.
Here is a link to a very high quality clear: http://marblesmotors.com/product/aeroso ... ive-grade/
Here is a link to the Aerosol Matched paint. Scarlet Red is down near the bottom: http://marblesmotors.com/product/aeroso ... hed-color/
Thanks
Randy Marble

Now I'm sure that one of Honda's red colors used in 1968 on Z50's is called "Scarlet Red", but I'm thinking that it is not the red that was used on CB77. The red on the 305's seams to me to have more orange in it. I'd really like some so help from the SENIORS on hand here. Yea some of you white headed/big bellyed older fellows like L.M. to chime in and tell me if there is a rattle can color that will work. Randy's paint is $35.00 a can. I'd like to be in the $7-10 range. The paint they put in rattle cans today is far better that the 1960's paint. I'll bet with a little time and prep work a rattle can paint job can turn out to be as nice as a spray gun job.

All input welcome.

Thanks in advance.

rattle can red

There are thousands upon thousand shades of red. Good luck finding an exact match in a spray can. I had a 1965 Honda cb 160 in 1965. There was no orange in the paint. They were cherry red. The orange comes from being baked in the sun.
Thank you for completely blowing off and ignoring my advice.

The OFFICIAL HONDA BOOK shows the CB160 as having SCARLET RED which if not all MOST of the bikes of that time had SCARLET RED which when looked at seemed to have a ORANGE tint same as the CA/CB/CL72/77 bikes f that time. Have a color pic of what you say?.........lm
