Does Red or black scrambler sells better?

Post by mips » Wed Jan 16, 2013 2:55 pm

Restoring two bikes frame up. I really like red, but will have to sell one or both eventually and wondered what bike has the best resell? I noticed on a number of the red scramblers I had they had been painted over black years ago. At the same time, it seems that red sell better on ebay.
Any experience with this? I have one that is definitely going to be red (have the paint), not sure whether to do the second bike black or red.

Thanks!

Speaking with a friend that had one in high school one day and he said " you bought a black one. If they were out of black ones, and you couldn't wait, you bought a red one. Whenever they'd see a red CL they'd say, looks like they were out of black ones" That said, the red does semm more popular today. do one of each, and keep the one that you like best!

I was there at the time these bikes were available.
The black was the MOST POPULAR and RED was sort of YA WEIRD!!!!???
The BLUE was nice but not so many anyone had a opinion plus or minus.
I liked the Black ones and today I think the Blue is Beautiful. ........lm

Thanks for the thoughts guys! I guess the CL72 will go red, Cl77 black. I have a candy blue '67 as well that is a rider, but that I dont intend to do a frame off.

Where does white fall in the CB72/77 pecking order? I''m putting a CB72 together right now and am contemplating colors right now -already have a black one.

I'm also putting 4 CB160's together (yes, simultaneously) and am thinking one of each: Red, White, Blue and Black.
