Primer
Did Honda use primer on some of their bikes in the 1960's?My 1962 CA77 has not had any primer so far(and yes,it has the original factory paint). I have seen parts on fleabay in primer that the seller claims to be NOS.Did Honda primer replacement parts way back when? Thanks Greener.

I noticed, when bead blasting the parts of My CL77, that the headlight shell and the toolbox lid had some kind primer/undercoat under the paint. The less visible parts(toolbox body, air cleaner brackets, motor mount parts) just had a thin coat of paint over bare metal. Honda didn't waste any money prepping parts for a glossy finish unless they really needed to.

Re: Primer
At the start of selling these bikes HONDA did offer parts in matching color. (no primer)
At some time HONDA offered parts in primer (you paint to match) and cut back on shelf stock.
Check the parts books on the top shock covers. ......lm
