paint colour

Post by kev.uk » Mon May 09, 2011 9:42 am

Hi all, I'm just about to take delivery of a 1966 CL 77 305 Scrambler (american) for total restoration. It's Silver and black. I'll have many questions in the future but for now can anybody tell me the name or code for the silver paint? cheers

Hi Kev. Welcome to the forum.

Some guy named Loud Mouse likes this ;)
I've used Dupont IMRON N8075U (MAZDA fleet silver) for years

Kev

I'm flying home this evening from US. I'll check the code on the silver paint I bought for my CL77 rest, tomorrow. I have a NOS petrol tank and it matches that nicely.

Hi Kev,

I just found this on Retro Bikes:
http://www.olypen.com/retro/
We have used the following paint codes for the early Honda's in the past. If someone has additional information, please send it on.

BLUE:
Toyota blue (add violet tint)
DuPont DBU 16131
Code 882

RED:
Ditzler DDL 71654K

SILVER:
Centauri (DuPont)
Radiant Silver 3556

ENGINE PAINT:
Duplicator (Duplicolor?) High Heat
Cast Aluminum, from NAPA

RATTLE CAN CLOSE:
Silver-Rustoleum Matte Nickel
I use the Duplicolor engine enamel Silver for my cases and other AL parts. It looks great with a coat or 2 of clear Engine enamel.

Kev

The paint I use is Standox 594 - Silver which I got from my local paint factor.

The NOS tank is on the right of the picture. It's a bit difficult to show the comparison in a picture but the Standox is perhaps a shade lighter and sparkles a bit more with a two part system (clear over base). I'm happy with that.
