I have just started restoring my 65 dream. I want it to look as original as possible. I would like to know what is painted and what is polished.
Engine block?
Engine side covers?
Wheel hubs?
Shock mounts?
The handlebar attachments and carb cover are still silver so I know these.
The starter is still painted silver.
What color red is the best match for original? I haven't been to my paint store yet to see if he has any color codes for hondas.
New restorationMaverick-
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not. Side covers are painted, but removable round covers (oil pump and stator cover) should be polished aluminum. Starter motor and it's side covers are all painted. Carb covers are painted. Header collars and horn are painted. Some people paint their engine blocks, but I think originally these were just unpainted cast aluminum. Dunno if the points cover was polished or no (I think it looks good polished) but I know it wasn't painted. Hubs and shock mounts were unpainted. I don't know the paint codes for the red, but I'm sure I've seen it discussed here. Look at 4shorts restoration thread for starters, I think he got it right. Someone will undoubtedly chime in to tell me I'm wrong, so take my advice with a grain of salt. '63 CA77 - Giving me all kinds of headaches.
