paint around petcock

Have any of you had problems with new paint deterioration around the petcock mounting area due to exposure to today's gasoline?

Just wondering if there was something more impervious to gasoline one could apply to the tank where the "O" ring seals that would stand up better than the finish paint.

Any help would be appreciated.

try some rtv silicone (available at walmart and auto parts stores) and seal the base of the petcock. Works great for me.
