Early CB72 brochure pic

Post by pc13cb92 » Sun Dec 04, 2011 4:37 pm

Going through my bike stuff today I came across this early Honda brochure. I hope I can get the pic scanned Ok. The brochure must be around 1960, and pre-dates Honda UK. The pic of the CB72 seems to show a pre production model (?), with a different tank, side panel arrangement, and footpegs. Were any of this spec ever sold?

Thanks for posting that pic. I've seen it somewhere before but I don't think any were sold in Europe. Lots of differences from the models that went into production. It would due nice to know if there are any examples of that bike in existence.

Hi,

This is a picture of a pre-production model of a CB72.
The CB77 came later. According to my information, this model never sold anywhere in the world. The picture is a peek preview before launching the model. The picture is made in the end of 58 or beginning 1959, but I'm not 100% sure.

The picture is also used in a few books about history of Japanese motorcycles.

And the passenger footrests on the swing arm just in front of the lower shock mounts......

Good stuff!
