Decided to ressurect an old 60's race bike w/ magnesium twin leading shoe front brake and am considering gunkote for the hub and brake plate.
Does anyone have experience and recommendations for this procedure?
Not looking for a concours finish, but want to have a durable and weather resistant finish-need to protect this 50+ year old hub!

A Drixton frame, nice, what meetings do you use it at? I am over in Cleveland again in May.
I got some Bike Brite products free when at the Wiseco Show last year, not tried it yet, I was a bit apprehensive about using it as it said for powder coated engines only, mine is bare aluminium.

Make sure you remove old finish and very carefully inspect wheel hub before coating with your product of choice. Vintage Mg parts are very risky unless you know for certain how it's been treated and stored and you must perform very thorough inspection and preserve it with the correct coatings applied properly.

Wow!! Thanks everyone for the volumes of information. I've had this hub since '70 and recently saw that it needs a serious dose of TLC, since it has been hidden away in the garage for too many years. My real concern is that it will weather with additional aging/ neglect without proper attention. Allan
