Looks like Honda was trying to cater to racers in the 60's. Check out this 1961 American Honda accessory catalogue.
Google = Docstoc and search American Honda Motor Compan_inc (not a miss-spelling of company)
cafe racers on HD Theater
Very cool document there!
I watch the Cafe Racer show all the time. That scene is pretty big here in Dallas. In fact my girl and I are in episode 2. She is riding her '65 Cub And I'm on a '67 Gilera 106 cafe bike. We do the Rockers mods every year. Its a lot of fun. If anyone is interested in next one, it's at the beginning of April. Here's the website.

cafe racers
The more I watch the show the more I'd like to have a cafe racer. Looks like it would be a kick to ride around the Pittsburgh area. We have more than enough hills and winding back roads. Not much fun to ride the curves with a Goldwing.
Hey Mike, need to check this guy out on an 1800 Wing.
I think he is having fun in the curves!
He even did an Iron Butt (1000 miles in 24 hrs) on this 11 mile section of Deals Gap (318 curves in 11 miles).....Insane!
