Speedo spring

Post by jkjoller » Sat Aug 03, 2019 8:04 pm

I have a speedo I bought online (for my '62 Dream CA77). Got it apart and cleaned up. Basically trying to get it running correctly. There is a small spring inside that has broken. I don't see a way to repair it and I don't see a part like this for sale to replace it. Anyone have any ideas on what to do? I hate to toss the whole thing just for this small spring.
Also, what does this spring actually do?

Thanks.

I recently sent both the speedos from my CB77 and CA77 out to Foreign Speedo Inc. in San Diego. The CB77 had quit completely and the CA77 was dragging and never indicated above about 30 mph. Preston is the guy I dealt with and he was great. they checked them both out and called me with their recommendation (which of course was a complete rebuild of both) The dream one was much less expensive as its just a speedo and not a speedo/tach combo. If you cant find a way to figure that spring out I'd call Preston and ask him. Could not be happier with the job they did. They are both smooth as glass now and read exactly the speed my gps says.
