I noticed something interesting about that switch I rebuilt - with the battery attached, it cranks automatically in the #1 position, and the #5 position, but not in 2, 3, or 4...I also get spark WHILE switching from #5 to #4, but then no spark until switching from #2 to #1...I get spark WHILE making the switch between the two positions.
I'm thinking (A) I rebuilt the switch wrong - although I put it back just the way I found it;
Or (B) I cross-wired something in the headlight bucket wrong, although I followed the
schematic pretty thoroughly, or so I thought.
My red/black and yellow/red wires from the switch are where they are supposed to go, attached to each corresponding color...could it be grounding /shorting out somewhere? I had the whole harness out and went over it pretty thoroughly, looking for shorts, opens, etc...the starter button does not appear to be shorting out...I'm mystified.
