Clutch cable adjustment on 1966 305 dream

Post by tr3a_59 » Sat Jun 07, 2014 12:47 pm

I'm not getting the clutch cable tensioned properly. I have the spring attached to the do-hickey that the cable attaches to inside the cover, but I cant get it tensioned properly. I have the kickstarter indexed at 11 oclock). what am I doing wrong?
thanks

What adjustments have you made ?

There is a ball bearing inside the lifter mechanism that bears on the clutch pushrods. That may have dropped out.

Have you adjusted the large screw in the case to take up slack or are you just working on the cable adjusters?

I dont recall seeing a ball bearing, it may have dropped out. I will check. Does the ball bearing lock the lifter onto the shaft that goes into the transmission?
thanks

The ball goes in item 5 and provides a bearing surface between this and the clutch pushrod.
