CA77E Battery?

Post by 1281pele » Sat Oct 13, 2012 7:46 am

My original battery: YUASA MBJ4-12 (7 3/8" L, 5 7/16" H, 2 1/2" W)

I'd like to keep this bike original. I need to keep the width of the battery at 2 1/2" to ensure the cover plate secures properly.

I found a special order NAPA battery: YUASA YB7B-B (6" L, 5 1/8" H, 2 3/8" W)
The CCA is only 56... Is that an issue??

Recommendation/s?

ALl The Best.

There used to be a new old stock one you could get on ebay. It was like this one:

but thinner. The fill hole were set up in an odd way: like this

I haven't seen one on Ebay in awhile, but I think the seller who has the one I linked to had the early Dream batteries as well.

The battery you recommended on ebay looks good!

By chance do you have the dimensions of the battery... please. Width, Height, Length..?

My bike is a Dream White 65.

If yours is a '65, the one one Ebay isn't the right one for your bike. That one is a JB-1. You'd need a JB-2. That's the one that's 2.5" deep and fits the battery box and clamps perfectly.

I have a 1963 Dream (early style) and I have that exact battery. It fits perfectly and lines up with the fill hole cut outs on the hold down strap. With yours being a '65 Im with Cheburashka, I don't think this one is going to fit. I can measure my battery for you, if needed but maybe you should measure your battery box, and post a picture of it on this thread.

I believe that changeover occurred somewhere in the 65 run. I have an early 65 with the older style battery box and battery. Post your frame number if you haven't already done so. Regards, Jeff.

OK. Now that I am at home I took a look at your other post and see you put your serial numbers. I'm going to save you a little time. Your bike falls under the early battery list ending with serial #ca78 1010862. You can get the proper battery from Nick at Ohio Cycle. Part # 31500 259 000. He has it listed for $47. You must send a cheque because he is not set up for online purchasing. You may find it on another site or supplier but Ohio Cycle shows it in their inventory. Good Luck. Jeff.
