Compatible Gas Tanks??

Post by Dr. Frankenstein » Tue Apr 12, 2011 9:22 am

Hi All;

Does anybody know if there are any other gas tanks besides the stock ones that will fit a '62 305 Dream...? I'm thinking I might want to try a different look...a tear-drop tank might look very cool...

I think that the problem with Dreams is that the front of the tank splays out to clear the forks. If you fit a tank from anything else you may have to move the tank backwards and that will leave a gap.

Having said that, most hondas have a similar front mount so there's no harm trying........

G-Man! How's it going across the pond? :)

Yeah, it was just a thought I had; a CX500 tank might work, but that'd be pretty ...'ungainly'..I would think...I'll have to dig around and see what I come up with, short of fabricating one myself - although that would be a cool sideline if anybody out there has metal fabricating skills.

We've just had a period of fantastic weather here but it's all over tomorrow when the rain comes back.

You might try something like an XT500 tank, although the centre channel is probably too narrow. I can't think of another bike which needed such a wide channel. A tank off a Brit single might work, especially one with a tall motor.
