A couple of questions I need answered...

Post by Sascha » Sun Nov 28, 2010 5:01 pm

Couple of questions for you guys:

1. Can I put the carb cable in the carb without taking it off the bike?! Has anyone tried this... Wondering how hard it is.

2. Anyone have a spring for the brake switch they could part with!?

3. How can I clean threads? I welded a new bung in and the threads are REALLY stiff, wondering if anyone has a suggestion to clean them out, tried a steel brush, didnt cut it.

Yes, you can install the throtle cable without removing the carb.
Remove the top of the carb and slide the slide assembly out.

Can't help with brake lite switch.

Steel brush usually cleans threads ok....wonder if it warped during the welding?

Hey Brewsky,

So I cleaned the threads out now, its fitting nicely, it wasnt warping, it was from the paint... Just a bit got in the thread.

I am going to tackle the throttle cable tomorrow... Thanks for giving me a heads up that its doable.

I have a new switch, going to try to find a kids tody with a sprint in it (maybe a toy guy) and pull it out to use it on the switch assembly!

Happy thanks giving bruce, sorry when I called as you were with guests man!

A little late here but for future thread cleaning get a can of carb or brake cleaner with the little plastic hose. 6mm - 1.oo, 8mm-1.25 and 10mm- 1.50 taps will fit about 90% of the bolts on the bike.
