OUCH! Is this rear hub fixable?

Tire needs to be off to properly tension and true wheel. the sprocket in your picture is shot.

What signifies that the sprocket is no longer any good?

It is completely wore out. So wore out that the teeth look hooked. If the rear looks like that you probably need a chain and a front sprocket as well.

I haven't looked but I would think that you should be able to find a spocket without much trouble. You would be far and away better off replacing it now that everything is apart.

I didn't notice at first but you can see where it is worn pretty bad when you click the pics open.

Ebay or one of the sources that have been linked to many times here should have one.

I've been looking around and all I have been finding is used parts. Gonna try calling Ohio Cycles today and see if I have any luck there. Thanks for your help.
