DH, To my knowledge there is no tapered roller bearing kit for the Dream. There is discussion in a thread on this site indicating one of the races for one of the bearings is apparently an odd size. I have a note in one of my parts manuals that says: 48.5x26.15 and 50x30x14.5. If no one can find a roller bearing I guess a shim could be turned.
I hope to get to this someday soon, but, haven't yet.
How do I loosen the steering stem?

Top nut on steering stem
It is tightened against #4 "Thread, Steering Head Top" in the parts diagram so it is locked in place. Lefty loosey on the square nut while you righty tighty on #4 (reverse for reassembly). You are supposed to have a special tool for #4 but, I took mine apart and re-assembled it using channel locks (IIRC).

Re: Top nut on steering stem
Bumping for another way to get this off. I even bought some spanner wrenches to try with, either these are literally frozen or I'm doing something wrong.conbs wrote:It is tightened against #4 "Thread, Steering Head Top" in the parts diagram so it is locked in place. Square nut.
No secret. It is as described in my prior post. There is not really another way to do it.
