Have a look at this post to find the serial number. Look at the bottom of the spring on the brake light. Mine is just behind that. They are hard to find. See this older post where I added photos.

Back in the dark ages, if a CA sustained frame/rear fender damage, it was easier for the dealer to replace the frame, rather than repair the damage. The replacement frames from Honda did not have a serial number stamped on them, the dealer did that while scrapping out the unhappy piece. Factory stamping should be nice, the dealer's, not very.
