1962 Dream Difference

Post by cadman » Thu Sep 14, 2017 8:06 pm

I have been re-doing a 1962 Dream - I had already done a 1965. For those contemplating a 1961 or 1962 here some of the differences in the 1963 and later bikes. Specific parts for these bikes can be hard to find. This bike, 1962, was from New Hampshire and in poor, rusty condition - had I known the problems with parts I might have passed on it.

Gas tanks - gas tank trim - gas tank knee pads - gas tank forward mount all different later will not work (possible a later tank will work with all hardware)
Seat - curved and flips up at the front - later seats will work with mods - rearrange the seat springs - weld a curved tab on the front - plus a little grinding where seat meets the tank.
Left and right aluminum shock trim is different - later will work - no square piece at the back.
Left side shock trim is a bit different if it has an air pump rear bracket
Front fenders are close but appear to be a bit different.

More to come .......
