Ok not sure why im having so much trouble with this but I found the spot welds. I got the new rear fender in from ebay and its in really bad shape which the seller didnt specify but thats another story. The spot welds I found are 3 on top at the seam and 2 on each rear shock mount plate. I drilled all these out but it seems the under fender plate is stil holding them together. Does everyone just cut at the seam?

Thanks,
~James

Rear Fender

I have not performed this operation, but it would seem to me that you still have some spot welds somewhere if it doesn't come apart. Or maybe the ones you cut are still welded around the perimeter of each weld. You may try sticking a small screw driver or something under one edge to see where it is still holding on.

If you just cut it at the seam how will you weld the new one on? It seems to me like you will need that piece under the fender.

Looks like these two pieces were spot welded together then an inner fender piece was welded into place. I ended up have to cut it in half to seperate the pieces. The plan is to remove the inner portion all together and weld in some custom inner brackets to strengthen where the rear suspension mount goes.
