Part #5 sleeve slides through the drive flange #9 from the inside, threads first, if that is the problem.

Something doesn't make sense, though. The axle length is a constant. As is the distance between the outer surfaces of the swingarms (including the chain adjusters). Unless an incorrectly assembled wheel hub and its associated spacers is forcing the swingarms farther apart than they naturally want to be, that axle should protrude out beyond the swingarm far enough for the axle nut to thread onto it. He appears to be almost an inch short of that.

Bottom line, regardless of how the wheel hub and its spacers are assembled, the axle should still be at least an inch longer than the distance between the outside surfaces of the swingarm unless the swingarms have been bent outward.

Original poster, did you have to pry anything apart to get that wheel back into the space?

Rzgkane, I didn't have to pry anything apart to get the wheel back on.

#5 goes through #28 (oil seal) and I believe stops at (#33) the wheel bearing. Is #5 supposed to go inside the bearing or stop at the bearing? If so, that would give it an extra inch or so.

Forget about the wheel and hub altogether. I'm simply measuring the length of the axle against the distance between the outside of the swingarms. It's either long enough or it's not. What you put in between the swingarms matters not, right?

Unless, of course, the swingarms actually compress inward an inch or so when tightening things down. That was not the case with my recent installation, though.

Rookie,

That sleeve goes through the bearing from the INSIDE and the shoulder butts the bearing, not dropped in from the outside. That is your problem.

The axle did fit before and I have measured it to make sure. The axle sleeve wasn't going through the bearing when I put it together, so that has got to be the problem! Thanks everyone for your help and insight. As soon as I get a chance to put this back together I will let you know how it goes.
