Rear axle problems

I am having difficulty getting the rear wheel bolted on. It seems that the rear axle sleeve is sticking out longer than the axle, so I am not able to bolt on the rear axle. For some reason the axle does not seem long enough. Is the sleeve not all the way in correctly? Has anyone ever had this problem before?

im not positive, but im almost positive that spacer is installed backwards. maybe thats the issue?

I agree. I just put my rear wheel back on after having it trued and I do not recall that much space between the swingarm and the hub. If I could take a pic of it for you without having to remove that PIA chainguard I would. Here's an image from the Honda parts fiche if it's any help:

You mean #6 in the picture for the spacer, right? To me, it seems like the sleeve (#5) is not going in far enough into the hub. If anyone else has a pic they can take for me for reference that would be great. Thanks for your help guys!

You know, if all you have on the left side of the wheel is the axle, the spacer and two chain tension adjusters, I don't see how the axle could NOT be long enough. The swing arms do not bend in or out and the threaded hub on the right appears to protrude through the swing arm the same amount as mine did. Did you by chance place anything on the left side between the axle head and the swingarm that would shorten the axle's length?

I'm also making the assumption that you had these parts all together at one time and the fitment was correct? Ruling out the "you got the wrong axle" possibility?

All I have on the left side is the spacer and chain tensioner. The sleeve, spacer (#6 in the picture above), and the chain tensioner are on the right side of the axle. Something just isn't fitting right. It all fit together correctly before I dissembled it and there are no new parts. I will post another picture in the next day or so.
