How to identify my Honda Dream

Post by desiree » Fri Dec 02, 2011 5:08 pm

Hello again

Thanks for the responses about the manual but now Im wondering if what I have is a 66 Dream or some other year. How do I identify the bike?. On what part of the engine and frame are the numbers located?

Thanks
Desiree

On the top of the engine case, on the left hand side of the bike you should see something that begins with CA77E XXXXXXX Or CA78E XXXXXXX ( E meaning Engine). Then on that same side of the frame you will need to get down low and towards the foot peg area, you will see some numbers stamped on the frame. It will say CA77 XXXXXXX or CA78 XXXXXXX. Depending on the numbers that follow the letter sequence you will be able to narrow down the year. I know there has been a lot of speculation or theories about some of the numbers and the year that it pertains to. Here's a document that will help you figure it out. Good luck.

CA78E???

KelliLynne, There are no CA78E engine numbers. Frame numbers changed to CA78 in mid '63, but all engine cases are stamped CA77E.

OH WOW thanks for telling me that. I just ASSUMED that the CA78 frames also had CA78 Engines. Thanks for clarification. I guess I could have LOOKED at the document that I posted lol.
