clutch and starting

Post by kenkah » Tue Jul 19, 2011 5:49 pm

I noticed the other day when starting the bike it starts fine when i don't hold the clutch down but when I engage the clutch it doesn't start. Is this normal or do I have a problem here? I was always under the assumption that with any manual you are suppose to hold the clutch down when starting.

I assume ya have a DREAM with electric starter.
I assume what ya describe is when ya use the KICK LEVER and pull the clutch lever.
The starter will turn the crank no matter the clutch.
The Kick Lever will not turn the crank when the clutch lever is pulled. ............lm

yes I have a dream with an electric start. correct on what I am describing is when I use the kick lever. So from what your saying is that if I use the kick lever to start do not engage the clutch as the bike will not start. What about when using the electric start?

If ya use the electric starter ya can pull in the clutch as the ES drives the crank not the trans parts.
But why would ya want to do that?. .................lm
