Wow, all I can say is this forum is a wealth of information. I just wanted to introduce myself as I wanted you all to know who your helping with my build!

I've been into bikes (mostly 70's-mid 80's motocross bikes) for many years as well as snowmobiles. If was a 2stroke, I was into it. My first (and previously last) road bike was a '77 Yamaha XS360D that my wife ran into me while following me home - long story.

Anyway, bought a CA77 today with 16,000 miles on it. It's not been on the road for over 20 years but stored in a fellows basement in very complete condition. Motor is stuck and seller told me it was not when he put it away in storage. I've just started my research and I don't have any pics yet, but this thing came with what looks like, a stock Fairing and Saddlebags. Owner has owned it almost it's entire life and told my buddy that the fairing and hard sided bags came with it originally. Had my buddy read off the engine number and it appears to be a CA77 Dream Touring "Late" built in 1963.

My intentions are to 1. Get the engine going, 2. To completely disassemble the bike and restore each piece to as original as possible and document the steps. 3. Get my MC license endorsement!
4. Ride it.

Can anyone confirm that the Dream came with a an optional Fairing? I've never seen one in photos.
Also, is the small glass that overs the speedo/odo still available?

Thanks much and pics to come when I pick this this up. Steve

Welcome to the forum and the joy of reviving.

If you need to replace the glass in the speedo, you might as well as clean and re-lube it as well.
There are several posts on the subject.

I may have an extra glass, I'll look and se if I can find it.

Clutches have a tendency to stick after setting a while, cleaning may be all that is necessary.

If the motor is stuck, try spraying some penetrating oil in the plug holes and let it sit for a few days....may free it up.

Good luck, post some pics when you can

HONDA did not issue any fairings or saddle bags for the CA77.
Several after market bags were offered. ......lm

Went to pick the bike up today. I had bought it site unseen and only described. It was a little more crusty then I'd hoped for. Here's the good:
1. It appears to be 99.5% complete right down to the keys to the bike and the bags
2. The fuel tank smells like kerosene, but looks shiny on the inside
3. I got it home in one piece despite very slippery roads
4. Mufflers look very good

Here's the bad:
1. Rear rim is almost complete void of chrome,
2. Mirrors are gone
3. Overall, I think every part of the bike will need attention

It looks to me a year-long project. How much can I put into this and not loose my shirt?

I guess I'm have a difficult time uploading pictures from Flickr....Hmmmmm, always worked before..
