tank badges---CA77-----CA72

Post by olered » Wed Nov 26, 2008 8:12 am

I'm new to this forum, so please bear with me if this has come up before-----I.m looking at replacement tank badges. Some of them have the Honda wing and a few also have the cc displacement also displayed. My 1964 CA72 has the wing and the 250 displayed(one is maybe usable but the other side is curled up and I would like to find the correct one to replace it with). What I'm getting to is, did Honda use different badges on different years or are the badges without the cc displayed the way Honda sold replacement badges. I have not seen any replacement badges showing the 250. And while I'm at it I have a ca160 that also needs badges. Did the factory original badges on this bike show the 160 or not? Thanks for your help.

As I know it: The VERY early badge showed HONDA/WING and around 1961 (?) the badge would show Honda Dream 250/wing or Honda Dream 300/wing. Sometime in 1964 the badge changed to Honda 250/wing and Honda 300/wing. Then HONDA issued the metal one with HONDA/wing after production of the bikes had ended. I have seen the 160 issue and it did show Honda 160/wing. I believe there are 2 types of them. ..................lm

good info LM.

also, you could try slow heating the acrylic badge that's curled until it lays flat on a table. Then polishing it up with acetone.

I really want to thank you both for the info. I will try the heat and flatten trick.
