Hi,
Can anyone advise please. My bike has a C77E engine number and a C78 frame VIN number. Was this a common thing or has a replacement engine been installed at some stage in the C78 frame. I’m trying to get an accurate date for the bikes manufacturer.

Hi Dan. According to a post by Mr.Silver Mr. Honda. All CA78 seven digital frame numbers started in 1965. The tenth digital of the engine number sequence mostly CA77E's indicates the year of engine manufacture. Best I can ascertain during this confusing era of Honda. I am recent owner of a seven digit CA78 with a number 5 in the engine sequence that I am calling it a 1965. I don’t intend to ever sell it and it has been duly registered and titled. Have fun.
