what's it worth? 1965 cl72 need help 3/8/14

Hey guys, it's been awhile since I sold my dream but I'm about to get this and could use some advice... First off its a 1965 honda cl72 with a 305 lower (engine). Is that a period correct mod?.. Was restored 3 years ago but has some incorrect (cl72, note fender) parts... Has title but hasn't been ran since shortly after the restored then parked inside, climate controlled, low humidity...
I may be trading for it tomorrow but curious as to what its value is?? Anyone have an estimate?

Mark, that bike is not " restored" it's gussied up! It's worth whatever your willing to pay. If you want to make it right be prepared to spend a few dollars. Being that I already have two nice, correct CL's I personally would not go much more than 12 to 15 hundred. But I don't "need" another one. Just my opinion....................D

"Restored" is what he said. I know there's alot of mismatched parts and incorrect paint, definitely not a "professional" restoration in anyone's book... I've been wanting one and this may be my chance to get one that's decent and not stored in a field for 40 years... Thanks!

I saw it too and was surprised it wasn't on the bike. That SL or XL or whatever front fender that is on there looks awful.

Considering these bikes are around 50 years old, CL's got trashed more than any of the three, I think this one has huge potential. Not only hanging the wall is the 8 hole front fender brace but that sure looks to me like the correct aluminum front fender, neither of them are cut. The seat trim appears to be hanging on the back fender another plus. What I'm not seeing is a chain guard and those are out there. Most of what is wrong with it is paint and that's easily corrected. If the engine is good runner it would be on my list if it could be had reasonably.

Agreed, what is the fun in buying a 100% correct old bike ?

This one is a fun basis to work with, just ride it, and in the mean time you search for the correct parts to make it really 'your' bike, just as you want it.

There is nothing wrong with a 50 year old bike that isn't perfectly factory correct !

As long as it rides, and is technical in order, it just like any other bike ! Just ride it !

My CB77 also isn't 100% as it was from the factory, but he, the bike is 50 years old and has a history, it's not a shame.

Everybody and everything gets old, nothing 'wrong' with that. ;)

Just look for the right price. :)
