the 67 CL77 I recently purchased has chrome fenders. I've seen pictures of scramblers with painted fenders. Which is correct for the 1967 CL77 305 Scrambler?

Depends on the frame number.
What is your frame number?
The HONDA parts book can/will tell ya a lot about what part was on what frame issue. ........lm
