Front wheel alignment

My front wheel shifts from side to side. It shifts enough that a small space develops on the left side between the hub and the brakes. I think I solved the problem i just want to make sure. On the right side between the hub and fork there is a nut that I tightened back against the hub. Then I tightened the bolts that hold the axle in place. I think these same bolts hold the nut as well.

The left side and right side are if I was sitting on the bike.
