Jay,
Be careful you don't break your ignition key with all that jumpin' and stuff (I hate when that happens!).
But save yourself a lot of grief and remove the carbs and do a thorough cleaning. No doubt the jets are clogged with hardened fuel. If you have a set of torch tip cleaners, those work great. Use Ed Moore's tune up recipe which you'll find in the left yellow collumn under FAQ I believe, and he tells ya how to set it up the right way.

Looks to me that you have the early front end with the steel fork lowers. You mifght check on the wiring harness just at tyhe nend of the frame u der the tank for a tag whidh denotes the year of even the frame number which I'm sure loudmouse can info you on the proper year. Need it for correct parts to keep it straight even tho they are all interchangable practically. JMHO

They're painted aluminum! Look at the bottom of the legs, and you'll see clamps for the axle. Also, large, dual leading shoe brakes.

You are absolutely correct! After re-caging my tired old eyes, I did notice tyhe bottom caps versus the large castlated nut on the earlier ones. My bad! I shall now go and flog myself about the head and shoulders. LOL

Done deal. Perhaps you can answer a question I have. Managed to pick up a set of first oversize pistons/rings/pins for my CL77. I have a service manual for a CL250. What would the piston to cylinder wall clearance be for a CL77? Same as for a 250?. I imagine the ring end gaps are the same. Thanks for any info you can provide. Thing is stuck and can't free it up so am resigned to grinding the cam chains pins out and replacing the chain with a new one. Charlie
