Hi,
I've been enjoying this forum, but this is my first post. I have a project 1967 CL77. The fuel tank emblem mounts have been filled in. It looks to be body filler. I'd like to remove the filler and mount emblems. Has anyone done this? Is it possible the emblem mounting brackets are still intact, or do they need to be removed to fill them in?
Thanks in advance for your help.

It's possible that everything is intact below the filler. You have nothing to lose. Just start digging. A hot air stripper will help.

G, you took the words right out of my mouth. I'll attach a photo of what it looked like before the filler was put in.

Nice! I had one like that but it was nice to find the original mounting underneath. Harder when the PO grinds off the knee rubber mounting.... :-(

I had one like that and just some heat to clean the filler out. Also had the rubber tank holders repaired. Seem that they are just tack welded on so if you can find a trashed tank, they could be removed and put on yours.

Thanks for the replies folks. It would be great to get the filler out and see the brackets intact.

I dig the filler out with a knife then hit it with a sand blaster......
