Are the gear ratios in a Scrambler tranny the same as a Superhawk?
I have a factory CL72 manual that says:
Crank to trans - 3.133
1st - 2.788
2nd - 1.661
3rd - 1.171
4th - 1.000
countershaft sprocket to rear wheel - 2.625 [this works out to a 16/42].
I thought the chain sprockets were 15/37 for the CL77, but I am not sure, as this manual is for a CL72, and has a date on the back cover of 1971.
Does the Superhawk run a 15/32 stock? If the tranny ratios are the same, then the chain sprockets are the only difference?
Thanks,
Dick

Thanks, I had forgotten that little fact. I want to set my CL up to similar gearing as the Superhawk. I will need to determine the circumference of the rear tire for the two models to see how many teeth the rear sprocket needs to be.
