Idling sweet and running great...

Great news. Nice when a nagging issue finally gets solved. Could you imagine what keeping these bikes running musta been like before the interweb?

I would have had zero chance.

Next up, the starter and the tires.

no trouble

rz,
I laughed to myself at that statement..."2 hour ride with NO TROUBLE" It's taken me nearly 600 miles (since my rebuild...thanks again Ed!) to get just beyond that point were I think, "Will she go today without any trouble?" A friend and I were out a few weeks ago for three and a half hours of riding. Felt good to get home and pull up into the garage...with no troubles.

keeping them running

Post by Mike Mullins » Sun Mar 11, 2012 9:46 pm

Ahh ! Remember guys- the Honda dealers were SELLING them at the time and had lots of parts ! And they were popular, and the guys who worked on them knew about carbs, and points, and condensers, and why they stalled and stumbled, and so did your uncle and your cousin, and your next door neighbor. The local garage had a spark plug cleaner. The auto parts store had the right thickness of gasket material. Gasoline contained 135,000 btu per gallon, instead of the 115,000 it has now (numbers may not be absolutely correct.) It was a different world. BEER CAME IN STEEL CANS !!! (really-took a real man to crush one of them !) The knowledge needed was commonplace. We really could have used the Internet, though.
