CB72 and CB77 Engine numbers 40000 series

Post by border0_3 » Thu Jul 12, 2018 8:21 pm

Hi all,

Can anyone confirm if all CB72 and CB77 engines with serial numbers 40000 were built with the Type 2 - 360 crankshaft.

I know what the parts books say, but can anyone confirm from experience?

Ed would you be able to help?

Many thanks in advance.

Richard

Has nobody got an answer or any ideas for this?
Brian.

As you show only 5 digits I'll say I don't know the answer.
I've never found a CB engine that had a 360 but memory tells me (maybe) that the CBM engine was 360.
I've had 2 CL72 bikes with the 360 engine and both were 1964 issue. CL72E-400000.
I have a 360 CL now but don't recall if its a 250 or 305. ..........................lm

Hi Ed,

Meant to be six digit 400000.

So does that mean any CB72E-400000 or CB77E-400000 series engine you've tinkered with has the 180 crank?

Cheers Richard

I do believe so.
2 sets of points is 180.
1 set is 360. ...........................lm
