Physical dimensions?

Post by jugger18 » Mon Oct 20, 2014 3:27 pm

I am looking at picking up a 66 hawk. It is about a 4.5 hr drive from me and would like to avoid renting a vehicle if I can. Thinking about possibly putting it in my suv but not sure if it will fit through the opening. Does anyone have actual dimensions.

I've put SuperHawks and scramblers in the back of my Ford C-Max by removing the front wheel and fender once the bike is in the back of the car.

Thanks G-Man. I have a Toyota Rav4 small suv. The only issue is it is a swing door instead of hatchback and this makes getting things in interesting sometimes. But if you can get one in a c-max I think I should be able to get it in

The worst you might have to do is drop the front forks off. In my C-Max I remove the rear seats and then the bike rolls in back wheel first and the back wheel just rests between the front seats. The rear end of the bike is pretty low - seat height is about 30 inches.

I take a piece of wood to rest the front forks on, once I have the wheel out.

14mm and 10mm for the front fender and lower triple clamp bolts (take a 13 and 12 just in case).

Then a biggish crescent wrench for the top triple clamp nuts and the front axle. A soft mallet / hammer and a piece of ½ inch bar to drive the spindle out would deb handy, too.

I think that's it but I would just take most of your metric toolkit with you as its a long drive back..... :-)

Good luck and don't forget the pictures...
