electric start only superhawk

Post by big-b » Sat Mar 12, 2011 5:47 pm

I just picked up another superhawk that doesn't have a kick start or centerstand. Did any of the superhawks ever come without a kicker or centerstand?

Personal preference most likely. If he used his electric start only, he probably figured the kick starter was in the way. It's sometimes known to move and kick back a bit if a few things are not working properly and this might have bothered him. Also, center stands are often removed to save a few pounds on the bike.

I'm assuming that the shaft is there but the lever is not? If so, the problem is that if the shaft is still moving on its own if 'things aren't working properly', you'd never know it while you're riding. And, you'll damage the transmission if it is and you continue to ride it. At least with the kickstart lever there, you'd know if it was moving on its own as you ride, as you'd see it and feel it.

Other possibility is if the whole kickstart assembly isn't there, maybe it has a five speed transmission in it! ;)
