Found a 1965 CB77 ...what's it worth?
Hi all, I'm brand new here and I'm trying to dig up some information on a 1965 CB77. I found it yesterday in a classified ad and fell in love, but I'm not sure where to draw the line on what I spend on it. I've got less than $1,000 total to work with and the guy wants just under $500. He's got the title but it's not running. Now, I'm an amateur in the most literal sense of the word and I think I'm up for the challenge but I also don't want to get in over my head. Any advice on this? Should I go for it for $500? Thanks in advance!

Tojo,
Try posting these questions on a new thread in the cb section where it will be a lot more visible to more folks. Post some pics if possible.
IMO $500 does not seem too steep with a title but that greatly depends on the condition and completeness of the bike. If the Eng. turns over and not stuck would be the best thing. Stuck could add more cost to the equation. On the other hand you could get lucky and have a $600 bike to ride.

Hey thanks a bunch will do - good news is the engine is free and it really doesn't look like it's in bad shape. These bikes seem a little more mechanically simple than some of the other models I've looked at but I don't know maybe I'm wrong. I looked at a CB550 on Saturday that was downright scary though... this CB77 just seems like it might be a good starter project.
Loud Mouse - uh about the name it's a combo nickname for me and my fiance.... I had no clue it could be offensive! Wow I'll see if I can modify that...
The engine is free that's about all I know...it's a weird situation the guy is selling it for a friend and I haven't been able to get in contact with the actual owner yet to see what the deal is
