On the righthand side of this picture there is a strap about 1" wide that wraps around the starter kind of like a hose clamp. Under this hose clamp thing there are some openings with o-rings around them. There is also a paper gasket that goes between the hose clamp thing and the the openings into the starter. Can this gasket be replaced. I'm not sure why it's needed I would thing just tightening the clamp around the starter would seal on the o-rings. Sorry, i should have taken more pictures, my question would be more clear.

Brian,
I know exactly what you are talking about as I just painted my start yesterday also. I peeled mine off very carefully and then re-installed it when done. If you need to replace it then you could probably use the paper they wrap meet in at a deli.

Mine isn't really that bad i'm sure it will still work better then deli wrap.

Brian,
Just trying to think of a paper that is similar. You might even get away with using a heavy duty supermarket shopping bag. Like what we used to cover our school book in.
